Fritz Rudolf Künker founded the coin trading company bearing his name in 1971. Today, the company is still run by the owners – now in the second generation. The company is organized into two business areas: trading with historical gold coins and auction sales.

Serving numismatics and collecting for over 50 year

Künker is one of the world’s leading auction houses for coins, medals and orders. In addition to the four internationally important floor auction sales per year, online auctions are also held regularly.

Künker is also a leader in the trade of gold and investment coins: the company is known worldwide for its well-stocked and extensive inventory of historical gold coins.

Künker currently employs 35 full-time numismatists, more coin specialists than all German coin cabinets combined.

Profit from our expertise and our excellent international connections to collectors, dealers, auction houses and experts.

eLive Auction 70

You can expect over 1,900 lot numbers from the ancient world to modern times on three evenings from February 22-24, 2022, starting at 5 p.m. (CET) each evening.

The online auction starts on Tuesday with coins from the ancient world and covers the entire range from the Celts to coins from the middle east. After a series of Celtic coins follows a selection of Greek coins from the entire Mediterranean region – and even beyond to India. In the Roman section which continues, there are both Republican and Imperial period coinages. The ancient section concludes with a number of gold Byzantine and Crucian coins and a handful of coins from the Middle East.

On the second evening of our eLive Auction we present you a nice collection of coins from the Russian Empire, among others with a so called Scott-Ruble minted in 1754 under Elisabeth, 1741-1761 as well as from the Habsburg Hereditary Lands, among them an extremely rare 6 Kreuzer piece of 1622 from the Hall Mint. We would also like to mention a selection of coins from Brunswick, including a 10 thaler piece minted in 1747 under Karl I (1735-1780).

To conclude our three-day online auction, we recommend a series of German silver coins, including a Proof from Vereinstaler, Reuss minted in 1858.

We hope you enjoy studying our eLive Auction 70.

If you do not have a myKünker account yet, we would like to ask you to register at least 24 hours before the auction starts.

Origins of the German Coin Trade: The Hamburger and Schlessinger Families

On the occasion of the auction of the Salton Collection, we have taken a closer look at the history of the Hamburger-Schlessinger coin dealer dynasty – because Mark Salton came from exactly this dynasty.

The 2nd part of the Lottie and Mark Salton Collection will be auctioned in Osnabrück on March 22, 2022. Included are spectacular coins, which makes one fact even more spectacular: Mark Salton, before he emigrated to the United States of America in 1946, bore the name Max Schlessinger. He was the son of Felix Schlessinger, who ran one of the most famous German coin shops in Berlin in the late 1920s.

Spring auction sales #361-367

Seven extensive auctions with world-class collections: “The Coined Splendor of the Guelphs,” the Lottie and Mark Salton Collection, and the second part of the Annemarie and Gerd Köhlmoos Collection. In addition, there is the varied offer of coins from the Medieval and modern times. This includes the collection of Dr. Albrecht Ullrich with Gothic gold coins of the finest quality as well as special collections of Oldenburg and Mecklenburg.

In the ancient world, among others, the highly significant collection of Celtic coins from the possession of Christian Flesche will come up for auction as well as Greek and Roman coins from the collections Bastin, “Connaisseur”, Dr. W. R. and late Roman gold coins from the collection Dr. Albrecht Ullrich.

Consign or sell?

The purchase

We will submit you an offer for the direct purchase of

– either single numismatic objects or a whole collection for fair market prices.

– Investment gold coins and bars at standard market rates.

Your advantage: Direct purchase is the fastest way to sell your coins.  This option is particularly suitable for common pieces and bullion coins.

The auction

Our experts examine and evaluate the objects. The auction offer is presented online and in high-quality color catalogues, which we send to our customers all over the world. We receive a percentage commission from the hammer price – there are no further costs.

Your advantage: Künker auctions reach a large audience worldwide and we usually achieve above-average prices.  This variant is particularly suitable for rare and especially well-preserved collector’s items.

A mix of both options is often the key to success.
