Newsletter, January 2013
Dear Madam, dear Sir,
Welcome to the new year! We hope you all had a good start and did enjoy the past holidays.
In less than one month – from February 1 to 3, 2013 – the 42th World Money Fair will take place in Berlin. Before, we also would like to draw your attention to Basel Coin Fair, our traditional and international numismatic event. About 90 exhibitors will join us at Basel Congress Center on January 26 and 27. We look very forward to meeting many of our Swiss friends and partners there.
At the same time, the preparations for the international World Money Fair are about to be concluded. Should you need any additional information for your planning, we will be happy to answer your request by phone or e-mail. In addition, all updated dates and facts are available on our website www.worldmoneyfair.de
Best wishes for the remaining days of January. We will be pleased to meet you again in Berlin.
See you soon!
The organization team of
the World Money Fair
Welcome to the 42nd International Basel Coin Fair
On January 26 and 27, 2013
Every year, the traditional Basel Coin Fair is the first to open the series of three important numismatic fairs in Switzerland (to be followed by the coin fairs of Bern, in May, and Zurich, in October). Held just one week before the major event of the Berlin World Money Fair, the Basel fair really is the kick-off for the numismatic year.
We are again pleased that, also in 2013, the Basel Friends of Coins and Medals from Circulus Numismaticus Basiliensis (CNB) have organized a highly interesting lecture to inaugurate our event: On Wednesday, January 23, at 7:30 pm, Dr. Marjan Scharloo will present the Teylers Museum in Haarlem, founded in 1778, and its ample collection of medals at Haus zum Hohen Dolder (St. Albans Vorstadt 35).
On Saturday, January 26, our coin fair will open at 9:00 am. Visitors will see an exhibition of valuable coins, medallions and paper money reflecting about 2,500 years of history. Furthermore, exclusive historical stocks and bonds (e.g., at tables 31 and 32) and diverse accessories for numismatists (e.g., at the stands of Leuchtturm and Lindner, tables 11-13 and 38-40) will be on offer.
Those who would like to learn more about coin scales, made in Milan from 1800, or about the exceptional artist Hans Erni should also pay a longer visit to the tables 106 and 25-26. In addition, the company Gravura AG from Rothenburg (table 21) will demonstrate the engraving of brass models, in an exclusive trade fair presentation. For the first time, the precious metal experts from DEGUSSA AG participate in the fair, showcasing their extensive range of products at stand 161-164.
On no account should you miss the well-known “speed auction” conducted by SINCONA AG, traditionally scheduled for Saturday, starting at 2:00 pm at room “Rio”.
Moreover, we are certainly very excited to see the new coin releases 2013 presented by Swissmint. At their stand, the Federal Mint Swissmint will offer 10-franc bimetal coin of the “Tradition” series dedicated to “Silversterchlausen” and also the complete annual series “Silversterchlausen”, a 20-franc silver proof coin celebrating “The first complete crossing of the Alps by plane”, as well as the Baby coin set 2013 which has become a tradition.
We wish all coin collectors an exciting numismatic weekend – also on behalf of our Honorary President Albert M. Beck who has organized the Basel Coin Fair for the 42nd time this year – and look forward to welcoming you to the tri-border region of Switzerland, Germany and France.
Best regards, on behalf of the entire organization team,
